In a letter to OpenAI's board, over 500 current employees expressed their intention to resign and join Microsoft after the company hired ousted OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and former co-founder Greg Brockman to lead a new "advanced AI research team." The employees alleged that OpenAI's board jeopardized their work and undermined the company's mission. Microsoft has reportedly assured these employees that there are positions for them at the new subsidiary. Altman's hiring by Microsoft came after negotiations with OpenAI's board failed to reinstate him as CEO. OpenAI's new CEO is interim CEO Emmett Shear, while Altman and Brockman head to Microsoft. - The Verge #news
